The charming Queen Anne styled home at 510 Elizabeth Street was originally built at the last turn of the century by Myron Barber, the local druggist whose downtown store still does business under different ownership. Barber also opened a print shop which evolved into Petoskey's present newspaper. The house was built on the bluff overlooking the busy chain of mills along the Bear River rapids. The mills have vanished, leaving 510 Elizabeth to gaze upon the sparkling water as it races to Little Traverse Bay.

The house changed hands several times over the years, variously serving as residence, beauty parlor and boarding house. It even hosted a pet grooming business.

The Barber family would be happy to see that their beloved home has been restored to its original charm and craftsmanship. The oak woodwork once again graces
the parlor and dining room, while period moldings, hardwood parquet and other Victorian details establish the romantic, yet homey appeal that is the hallmark of 510 Elizabeth.
